Why not grab your journal and try the writing activity below? Use it to tap into your inner voice, and as a tool for self-discovery - just writing down what first comes to mind, with no judgment, no editing or correcting.
Words are our primary way of expressing our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. How we use our words (writing, speaking, hearing) has an extraordinary power to shape our perceptions and experiences of the world.
Think about the core transformative events of your life - the events that shaped your evolution as a person — the overtly dramatic events, or the intimate and quiet moments.
-
Write down a list of at least five major moments in your life - the moments that shook you, emotionally and spiritually to your core. Events that signal points of transformation or rebirth in your life’s narrative.
-
How do you feel when you think or speak about those moments? Write them down.
-
Sit with your thoughts and emotions, do you believe those words and thoughts - are they based on fact?
-
What assumptions have you made?
-
Are there different perspectives you could explore?
-
What have you accepted as truth - and is it truth?
-
What did you learn and how did this change you - for better or for worse?
-

These events shaped you into the person you are today, and while you can't change them, there may be ways you can change how you think about them.
Action step: Think about how you would prefer to think and feel. What’s one thing you could do starting today?
Wordweaver, what you seek to change must first be exposed and felt.
The pain within is like a tidal wave threatening to engulf all that you hold dear.
Let the pain surface and sit with it.
Feel it, be it, own it.
No more pushing it down or ignoring it.
For only when you sit within your pain will you truly begin to understand it
What is it telling you, what lessons can be learnt from it.
Now you are ready to open the floodgates and release all that holds you back.
You are the wind, you are the storm, you are the exact freedom you seek.
Know not what is sought.
Know only what is felt.
Who do you seek to be?
Be that, be open, be honest, be free
